The Flipped Classroom refers to students taking initiative and watching instructional and educational videos at home. They can watch videos on any topic and instructors can make their own videos, post them and students have the ability to watch them in their free time at home. This allows for students to create and organize their own learning online. it does require students to be slightly more responsible for their own education and growing knowledge and understanding. Here is a link explaining the Flipped Classroom Model .

Through open education, educators work to provide ways of learning to students no matter what deficits they might have. It is a philosophy on how people produce, share and grow their knowledge. One of the biggest contenders of open education is expanding knowledge through collaboration. Some specific resources of open education are textbook, podcasts, presentation slides and worksheets.
More about open education

Like open education, there is open content. Open content refers to using information gained for oneself without needing permission to do so. So finding information online and using it in a presentation or paper without needing permission for it, would be considered open content. When information is considered open content, it is defined by the 5R activities. These are: retain (make, own and control copies of content), reuse (use content in different ways), revise (adjust content), remix (combine material to make something new) and redistribute (share copies of content).

Along with open education and open content there is also open source. Open source learning is collaborating with others outside of of the school by means of technology and also in person. This allows for people to get different perspectives and ideas that may not have been established alone in a school setting. Using technology is an easy way to get open source learning because many social media platforms and programs such as blogs, able us to read and understand beyond the school walls. Also, with video chat we are able to talk to other people that may live hundreds of miles away and allows for connections to be made and grow our source platform. Even meeting with other individuals in the community contributes to open source education because we are put in an unfamiliar situation with people we may not initially know but grow our understanding by collaborating with them.
Open source education in practice

Working on the PowerPoint projects I learned a lot of new ways to make a PowerPoint presentation even better. I learned how to organize the presentation by putting slide breaks in. I also am now able to input sound and record my own voice for part of the presentation. I learned how to add in buttons that change slides to go to another slide in the presentation. Some other fun and interesting things I learned to do was put different themes and layouts on the slide, insert photos and hyperlinks, and I learned how to add in animations and transitions. All of these allow for a PowerPoint presentation to be intriguing and helping others be more involved instead of just looking and watching slides.
