The information on Vanguard High School's website that was public was very helpful. They had a section for teachers, faculty, students and parents. There was public information about the district school board, classes offered, athletics, IB Program, AP classes, reduced lunch, activities going on through the year and many more useful links that are easily accessible. One of the most important things on this high school website are their graduate requirements for students and the students and parents know what tests are required with certain scores in order to graduate.
Here is a photo of some of the Enlgish classes offered that are made available to see online by students and parents:
As a teacher I will use apps for students to be able to work from both school and home on their devices so that they have the mobility to be in different places and still get work done. I will also use different Word Processing tools so that I can make documents and flyers more professional looking and organized so that other administrators can easily read them and so it looks good to fellow teachers and administration. Also, so that parents will be able to easily follow newsletters when they are sent home. Electronic spreadsheets will also be helpful because this way I can keep track of things such as payments of books if students have to purchase books or budgeting if I am involved with clubs and organizations.
Last week my Educational Technology class went to the Technology Sandbox at FSU, which provided us useful information about different technologies that are available to us as students and teachers. We also were able to use some of their technology appliances to play with and be more hands on with what was offered such as 3D printer pens, Smart Boards, Virtual Reality and many more. I think that the 3D printer pens would be very useful in classrooms because while learning about a topic a student or teacher could be drawing up and creating a hands on object that would help others understand what they are learning about better. This way there is a tangible item for students to touch and look at and pass around the class. It also allows for imagination to show through from students. For example, if learning about dinosaurs, each student could create their own interpretation of a dinosaur and choose what color they want. this would allow for others to learn about the dinosaurs body type and what they look like.
