Blog Journal 10
I plan to use Excel to organize data collected in research and then use that information to create charts and graphs to later show my students. I want to be a sociology professor but before becoming a professor I want to do social work and research. After conducting research for a few years I could use excel to display my data collection. I could have students use the data that I collected and make their own conclusions and charts/graphs themselves. I could also use surveys to proceed with my research while being a professor because I could conduct surveys within the class amongst my students and again separate but organize that data with an Excel spreadsheet.
One topic I found interesting was on my classmate Noah's page. On his Blog Journal 8 he talked about a website ChipIn and how he read about Mind Mapping and Artificial Intelligence technological advances. I think this is very interesting because it has become more relevant in today's society and I think it has a big part on our society's advancements. Another topic I found interesting was on my classmate Julia's Blog Journal 8 as well. She focuses on kids with special needs and how they can work around their disability. Some ideas she gave were text-to-speech and a talking word program. I had not thought of those to help disabilities but they are great ideas that would definitely be beneficial.
I think the next technology skill I would be interested in learning would either be assistive touch when writing or creating documents because learning that would save a lot of time. To go about this I would have to invest in specific technological systems that incorporate that already and then watch tutorials or learn it myself. Another skill I would be interested in using would something along the lines of speaking into a pen that takes notes. I have seen a couple of these but pretty much you can speak into a pen or another note taking device so that you can listen to what a teacher or professor or classmate said again and write down notes you may have not heard the first time through.
